The experience…

Your family is unique, and your family photos should be too.

Documentary storytelling sessions capture the the chaos, beauty, humor, and sweetness that make up your life right now. These photos are for you, but they are also for your kids. For your kids to see pictures with mom in them, for them to look back years from now and remember how loved they were, and for them to know that your reality right now is wonderful and worth memorializing in photos (even if the kitchen is messy or you haven’t purchased your dream furniture yet).

My sessions are completely undirected and unposed. They are unlike any photoshoot experience you’ve had in the past. There will be no awkward group poses, cheesy bribed smiles, or matching outfits. The only thing you need to do for a storytelling session is be yourselves. Wear clothes you love, hang out with the people you love, and do whatever it is you love to do—at home, in the neighborhood, or on vacation.

Don’t think of our time together as a photoshoot—think of it as a day hanging out with your friend Kelly, who always has her camera out and is crazy enough to climb on your furniture or crawl through dirt in pursuit of the perfect shot. You’ll be surprised by how easy it is - and your kids will thank you for it.

My average client invests between $800-$2000 per session, depending on the length of the session and how they want to keep and display their photos. I offer a variety of session lengths so you can choose something that works for your family.

This session is perfect for welcoming a new family member, marking important milestones, or memorializing your everyday ups and downs for future generations. This session includes a full eight hours with me and my camera. The session fee is $750, which covers the photography session and access to an online proofing gallery to view and share your images. You can decide to order prints, products, or digital images after the session in packages or a la cart.

The “Yes! Let’s Do It!” Half-Day Session

Half-day sessions are perfect for capturing your morning routine, family dinners, or a weekend activity. Half-day sessions include four hours of documentary photography. The session fee is $350, covering the photography session and access to an online proofing gallery to view and share your images. You can decide to order prints, products, or digital images after the session - I offer packages and a la cart pricing.

The “I Love This but We are On a Budget” Small Session

Maybe you aren’t sure about documentary photography and want to test it out in a shorter session, or maybe you love documentary photography but are watching your budget right now. A small session includes two hours of real life photography. The session is $250, which covers the session time and your online proofing gallery to view and share your images. You can decide to order prints, products, or digital images after the session in packages or a la cart.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY…

Kelly was so amazing to work with! We were a little apprehensive about having someone spend four hours with us (four hours!) but Kelly was so easy to be around and our family just went about living our lives that morning. And the photos! Kelly captured the mundane but precious moments of life with our two-month old — bathing, eating, feeding, diaper changing, napping — with such intimacy and vibrancy. These photos provide a wonderful snapshot of an otherwise fleeting morning in a way that neither our own photos nor a studio portrait session ever could. Can’t wait to ask her to come back next year :-)

I never like photos of me, but I love the pictures you’ve taken of us. They are definitely precious and to be cherished!
